Hadhiya (Blog post 28 (i))

The Quran begins with the words “Alhamdhulillah” which means ‘all praise and thanks belong to Allah”. It begins with an answer to a question that any decent human being will have. Any decent human being will look at the world around him and praise it for anything beautiful in it. And any decent human being will also thank someone who does something for him. But at the end of the day, he realizes that all of these praises and all of these thanks go back to someone higher than him. Because he understands that everything around him could not have been possibly made so precisely by a human being. And all the favours that he has for himself, his food, shelter, clothes and even his body could not have only come from someone who is perfect. Because he did not decide when he would be born. He did not decide what he will look like. And he does not get to decide when he is going to die. When a person with these thoughts opens the Quran, he sees the words “Alhamdhulillah.” and gets all of his answers. He realizes that all of that praise and thanks go back to Allah, the One he had been searching for. Subhaanallah!

Also note how Allah swt did not begin His Book by forcing us to praise Him. He did not say “PRAISE AND THANK ALLAH!!!” All He swt told us is a simple conclusion that we could reach on our own.  “All praise and thanks belong to Allah.” And even further in this surah it is we who are saying iyyaaka na’budhu wa iyyaaka nastha’een. “We enslave ourselves to You and from You alone we seek help.”  We are making that declaration ourselves. Nobody is forcing us to do it. We have to reach the conclusion on our own, say and mean those words ourselves. Subhaanallah! What a beautiful religion we follow! A religion that we enter with our eyes open, believe with reason and obey whatever our Master commands us to do without any compulsion!

ޤުރުއާން ފެށެނީ 'އަލްޙަމްދުލި ﷲ' މި ބަސްތަކުންނެވެ. އޭގެ މާނައަކީ 'ހުރިހާ ތަޢުރީފަކާއި ޝުކުރެއް ޙައްޤުވެގެންވަނީ ﷲ އަށެވެ.' މި ބަސްތަކަކީ ރަނގަޅު އަޚްލާޤެއްގެ ވެރި ކޮންމެ އިންސާނެއްގެ ހިތަށްވެސް ވެރިވާނެ ސުވާލެއްގެ ޖަވާބަކުންނެވެ. ރަނގަޅު ހިތެއްގެ ވެރި އިންސާނަކަށް އޭނަގެ ވަށައިގެންވި ދުނިޔެއިން ރީތި އެއްޗެއް ފެނިފައި ތަޢުރީފު ކުރާނެއެވެ. އަދި ރަނގަޅު ހިތެއްގެ ވެރި އިންސާނެއްނަމަ އޭނައަށް ކަމެއް ކޮށްދެވިއްޖެނަމަ އެންމެ ކުޑަ މިންވަރުން އެ ކަމެއް ކޮށްދިން މީހަކަށް ޝުކުރު އަދާކުރާނެއެވެ. އެހެނަސް އެންމެ ފަހުން މި ހުރިހާ ތަޢުރީފަކާއި ޝުކުރެއް ޙައްޤުވާނީ އޭނައަށްވުރެ މާ މަތީ ފަރާތަކަށްކަން އޭނައަށް ވިސްނޭނެއެވެ. އެއީ އޭނަގެ ވަށައިގެންވި ހުރިހާ އެއްޗެއް އެހާ ފުރިހަމައަށް ހަދާފައިވާނީ އިންސާނެއްނޫންކަން އޭނައަށް ޔަޤީންވާތީވެއެވެ. އަދި އޭނައަށް ލިބިފައިވާ ނިޢުމަތްތަކުގެ ތެރެއިން އޭނަގެ ކައި ބޮއި އުޅޭ ތަކެއްޗާއި އޭނަގެ ގެދޮރާއި އަންނައުނާއި ޚުދު އޭނަގެ އަމިއްލަ ހަށިގަނޑަކީވެސް އޭނައަށްވުރެ މާ ފުރިހަމަ ފަރާތަކުން ދެއްވާފައިވާނެ ނިޢުމަތްތަކެއްކަން އޭނައަށް އެނގުންވާނެއެވެ. އޭނަ އުފަންވީ ދުވަސް ކަނޑައެޅީ އޭނައެއް ނޫނެވެ. އޭނަގެ ސޫރަ ހުންނާނެ ގޮތް ކަނޑައެޅީ އޭނައެއް ނޫނެވެ. އަދި އޭނަ މަރުވާނެ ދުވަހެއްވެސް ކަނޑައަޅާނީ އޭނައެއް ނޫނެވެ. މިފަދަ ވިސްނުންތަކެއްގައި ހުރި ރަނގަޅު ހިތެއްގެ ވެރި އިންސާނަކު ޤުރުއާން ހުޅުވާލުމުން މި ސުވާލުތަކުގެ ޖަވާބު ލިބިގެންދާނެއެވެ.  'އަލްޙަމްދުލި ﷲ' މި ބަސްތަކުންނެވެ. ހުރިހާ ތަޢުރީފަކާއި ޝުކުރެއް ޙައްޤުވެގެން ވަނީ ﷲ އަށްކަން އޭނައަށް އެނގޭނެއެވެ. އޭނަ ހޯދަމުން ދިޔައީ ކޮން ފަރާތެއްކަން އޭނައަށް އެނގޭނެއެވެ. ސުބްޙާނަ ﷲ!

އަދި ފާހަގަކުރުން މުހިއްމު ތަންކޮޅެކެވެ. ﷲ ސުބުޙާނަޙޫ ވަތަޢާލާ އެކަލާނގެ ފޮތް ފެއްޓެވީ އެކަލާނގެއަށް ޙަމްދުކުރުމަށް ގަދަކަމުން އަމުރު ކުރަމުންނެއްނޫނެވެ. ޤުރުއާން ފެށެނީ 'ﷲ އަށް ޙަމްދުކުރާށެވެ!" މިބަސްތަކަކުންނެއްނޫނެވެ. އެހެނެއްކަމަކު ޤުރުއާން ފެށެނީ ކޮންމެ އިންސާނަކަށްވެސް ނުހަނު ފަސޭހައިން އާދެވިދާނެ ނިންމުމަކުންނެވެ. 'ހުރިހާ ތަޢުރީފަކާއި ޝުކުރެއް ޙައްޤުވެގެން ވަނީ ﷲ އަށެވެ.' މި ސޫރަތުގައި ކުރިއަށް ހުރި އާޔަތްތަކުން ވެސް ވާހަކައެއް ބުނަނީ ހަމަ އަހަރުމެންނެވެ. އިއްޔާކަ ނަޢްބުދު ވަ އިއްޔާ ކަނަސްތަޢީން ކިޔަނީ ހަމަ އަހަރުމެންނެވެ. "އަހަރުމެން އަޅުކަން ކުރަނީ ހަމައެކަނި ﷲ އަށެވެ. އަދި އަހަރުމެން އެހީއަށް އެދެނީ ހަމައެކަނި ﷲ ގެ ޙަޟްރަތުންނެވެ." މި ބަސްތައް މި ކިޔަނީ އަހަރުމެން އަމިއްލައަށެވެ. އެ ބަސްތައް ކިޔަން އެކަކުވެސް މަޖުބޫރެއް ނުކުރެއެވެ. އެ ނިންމުމާ ހަމައަށް ދާންޖެހެނީ އަހަރުމެން އަމިއްލައަށެވެ. އަދި އެ ބަސްތައް ބުނެ އެއާއި ރުހި ޤަބޫލުވާންޖެހެނީ ވެސް އަހަރުމެން އަމިއްލައަށެވެ. ސުބްޙާނަ ﷲ! އަހަރުމެން މި އުޅެނީ ހާދަ ރީތި ދީނަކަށެވެ! އެ ދީނަކަށް އަހަރުމެން ލޯ ހުޅުވައިގެން ވަންނަ ދީނެކެވެ. ސަބަބުތަކުގައި ހިފައިގެން އީމާންވާ ދީނެކެވެ. އަދި އެއްވެސް މީހަކު މަޖުބޫރު ކުރުމެއްނެތި އަހަރުމެން އަހަރުމެންގެ ވެރިރަސްކަލާނގެއަށް ކިޔަމަންވާ ދީނެކެވެ.

The chart above shows the pronouns of the Arabic language. Below each pronoun is its attached form (in purple). Pronouns can be seen independently or attached to a word. For example هُوَ which means ‘he  or it ’ can be attached to a word like كِتَابُ (which means book). To attach, we should look for the attached form of the pronoun. Attached form of هُوَ is هُ so we can say كِتَابُهُ and this would mean, ‘his book.’ Some pronouns have two attached forms. We choose the attached form for a pronoun depending on the harakah (fili) on the last letter of the word. For example if the word was كِتَابِ it will be very difficult and sounds weird to say كِتَابِهُ so the Arab says كِتَابِهِ and this would also mean ‘his book’. So the second form of an attached pronoun is only used when there is a kasra (ibifili) on the last letter. The pronoun ‘ana’ is an exceptional case. Harf of Nasb (English + Dhivehi)

حَرف نَصب إِنَّ                                   أَنَّ                              كَأَنَّ لَيْتَ                          لاَكِنَّ                  لَعَلَّ These are called Harf of Nasb. Their meanings are as follows: إِنَّ – For sure أَنَّ – that كَأَنَّ – as though لَيْتَ – if only لاَكِنَّ – however لَعَلَّ – so that/hopefully/maybe The word after harf of nasb must be a nasb. (must end with fathha, AANI sound or EENA sound – look up lessons on status) A harf of nasb doesn’t necessarily beat up the word next to it. There may be there words between harf of nasb and the word beaten up. Eg: إِنَّ اللّهَ إِنَّ is the harf nasb. The word اللّهَ is the ismu إِنَّ . Because the word became nasb due to إِنَّ . Mudhaaf-mudhaaf ilaihi and pronouns (English lesson)

Mudhaaf-mudhaaf ilaihi with pronouns Among the lessons related to pronouns, we had looked at the pronouns chart. Below is a picture to help you remember. The ‘attached’ forms are actually nasb or jarr versions of the pronouns. They are called ‘attached’ forms because they are always found attached to a word. Example:    رَسُوْلُهُ If you find هُ   or هِ you must know that it’s the attached form of هُوَ and can only be nasb or jarr status. Exercise 1: Identify and write the attached forms of the given pronouns by looking at the chart.
