Hadhiya (Blog post 28 (ii))

When I heard the words “there is no one who could bring a surah like in the Quran.”, about 6 years ago, I was skeptical. Being the stubborn person I was, I held onto the thought that if I knew Arabic, I might as well be able to write a few Arabic sentences that rhyme like the Quran (May Allah forgive me). As a matter of fact, I kept coming back to this thought even after I started to learn seriously about the Quran. But then I finally started to learn Arabic because of the mere love I developed for the Quran itself. And had completely forgotten about the thought that was occasionally running through my head. But then I finally came across this ayah after a few years.
فَإِن لَّمْ تَفْعَلُوا وَلَن تَفْعَلُوا فَاتَّقُوا النَّارَ الَّتِي وَقُودُهَا النَّاسُ وَالْحِجَارَةُ ۖ أُعِدَّتْ لِلْكَافِرِينَ
" But if you do not - and you will never be able to - then fear the Fire, whose fuel is men and stones, prepared for the disbelievers.” Suratul Baqarah, 24
Allah says these words after the ayah that challenges people to bring a surah like the Quran. I still remember how stunned I was when I felt this ayah was talking directly to me. And Subhaanallah it all became so clear to me right at that moment. Even with all the knowledge of Arabic and the Quran I had, I just can’t write something even close to the ayahs of Quran. Let alone write, I can’t even begin to think of a sentence, that is so meaningful and precise at the same time. And even when I do write an Arabic sentence using the vocabulary of the Quran, it sounds just so different from the Quran. It’s literally inexplicable how significantly different the Quran sounds from all the other Arabic texts. Now I understand why the Quraysh, being the most eloquent of people, could not beat the Quran with their words, and had to raise swords against it. Subhaanallah!

May Allah allow us to see the beauty in His Words by increasing us in beneficial knowledge. Ameen!

ޤުރުއާނުގައިވާ ސޫރަތެއްހާ މިންވަރުގެ އެއްޗެއްވެސް މީހަކަށް ނުގެނެވޭނެއެވެ."
މީގެ 6 އަހަރު ކުރިން މި ބަސްތައް އިވުނު ހިނދު އަޅުގަނޑުވީ މިކަމާމެދު ޝައްކެއްގެ ތެރޭގައެވެ. ގޮތްދޫނުކުރާ މީހެއްގެ ގޮތުގައި އަޅުގަނޑުގެ ހިތަށްއެރިއެވެ. އަޅުގަނޑަށް ޢަރަބި އެނގޭނަމަ އެ އާޔަތްތަކުގެ ރާގަކަށް ފެތޭ ގޮތަށް އަޅުގަނޑަށް ޖުމްލަތަކެއް ލިޔެވިދާނެއެވެ. (މާތް ﷲ އަޅުގަނޑުގެ ފާފަތައް ފުއްސަވާށި). ޤުރުއާނާއިމެދު ޝައުޤުވެރިކަމާއެކީ އުނގެނެން ފެށި ފަހުން ވެސް ދޭތެރެދޭތެރެއިން މި ޚިޔާލު އަޅުގަނޑުގެ ސިކުނޑިއަށް ވެރިވަމުން ދިޔައެވެ. އެހެނަސް ޤުރުއާނަށްޓަކައި އުފެދުނު ލޯތްބެއްގެ ސަބަބުން އަޅުގަނޑު އެންމެ ފަހުން ޢަރަބި ކިޔަވަން ފެށީމެވެ. ދުވަސްކޮޅެއް ވަންދެން އެ ޚިޔާލު މަތިން ހަނދާން ނެތިފައި ވަނިކޮށް ޢަރަބީގެ ބޮޑުބައެއް އެނގުނު ފަހުން އަޅުގަނޑަށް މި އާޔަތް ފެނިގެން ދިޔައެވެ.

فَإِن لَّمْ تَفْعَلُوا وَلَن تَفْعَلُوا فَاتَّقُوا النَّارَ الَّتِي وَقُودُهَا النَّاسُ وَالْحِجَارَةُ ۖ أُعِدَّتْ لِلْكَافِرِينَ
"ފަހެ، ތިޔަބައިމީހުންނަށް އެކަން ނުކުރެވުނުނަމަ - އަދި ތިޔަބައިމީހުންނަކަށް ހަމަ ހިލާ އެކަންތަކެއް ނުމެ ކުރެވޭނެއެވެ. ފަހެ، ތިޔަބައިމީހުން ނަރަކަޔަށް ބިރުވެތިވެ، ރައްކާތެރިވާށެވެ! އެނަރަކަޔަކީ، މީހުންނާއި ހިލަ، އޭގެ ދަރުކަމުގައިވާ ނަރަކައެވެ. އެ ނަރަކަ ތައްޔާރު ކުރައްވާފައިވަނީ، كافر ންނަށްޓަކައެވެ." ސޫރަތުލް ބަޤަރާ، 24

ﷲ ސުބްޙާނަހޫ ވަތަޢާލާ މި ބަސްތައް ވަޙީ ކުރައްވާފައިވަނީ ޤުރުއާނާއި އެއްފަދަ ސޫރަތެއް ގެނެސްދިނުމަށް ގޮންޖައްސަވާފައިވި އާޔަތަށް ފަހުއެވެ. މި އާޔަތް ވާހަކަ ދެއްކީ ޚުދު އަޅުގަނޑާއިހެން ހީވި ވަގުތު ހުއްޓުން އެރި ވަރު އަދިވެސް ހަނދާން އެބަހުއްޓެވެ. ހުރިހާ ކަމެއް އަޅުގަނޑަށް ސާފުވެގެން ދިޔައީ ވެސް އެ ވަގުތެވެ. އެހާ ތަނަށް ދިޔައިރު ޤުރުއާނާއި ޢަރަބިއާއި ބެހޭގޮތުން އެނގިފައިހުރިހާ ޢިލްމަކާއެކީ ވެސް އަޅުގަނޑަށް ޤުރުއާނުގެ އާޔަތްތަކާއި ގާތްވާނެ ފަދަ ބަސްތަކެއް ވެސް ނުލިޔެވޭނެކަން އެނގުންވީ އެވަގުތެވެ. ލިޔުން ކީއްކުރަން ހެއްޔެވެ؟ އެހާ ފުރިހަމައަށް އެހާ މާނަހުރި ޖުމްލައެއް އެކުލަވާލުމަށްޓަކައި ވިސްނައިގަންނަން ވެސް އަޅުގަނޑަށް ދަތިވިއެވެ. އަދި އަޅުގަނޑު ޚުދު ޤުރުއާނުގައިވި ބަސްތަކަކުން އަމިއްލަ ޖުމްލައެއް އެކުލަވާލިޔަސް އެ ޖުމްލަ ޤުރުއާނާއި ބަލާއިރު ވަރަށް ވެސް ތަފާތުވެއެވެ. އެހެން ހުރިހާ ލިޔުންތަކާއި ޤުރުއާނާއި ތަފާތު ވާ ގޮތަކީ ބުނެދޭންވެސް ނޭނގޭ ޙަޤީޤަތެކެވެ. ޤުރައިޝުންނަކީ އެންމެ ފަޞާޙާތްތެރި ބަޔަކަށް ވީ ހިނދު ވެސް އެމީހުންގެ ބަސްތަކަކުން އެމީހުންނަށް ޤުރުއާން ބަލި ނުކުރެވުނީ ކީއްވެކަން އަޅުގަނޑަށް މިހާރު ވިސްނެއެވެ. އަދި އޭގެ ބަދަލުގައި އެމީހުން ޤުރުއާނާއި ދެކޮޅަށް ކަނޑި އުފުލަން ޖެހުނީ ކީއްވެކަން ވެސް މެއެވެ. ސުބްހާނަ ﷲ!

މާތް ﷲ އަޅަމެންނަށް ފައިދާހުރި ޢިލްމު އިތުރު ކޮށްދެއްވައި އަޅަމެންނަށް އެކަލާނގެ ބަސްފުޅުގެ ރީތިކަން ދައްކަވާށި. އާމީން!

The chart above shows the pronouns of the Arabic language. Below each pronoun is its attached form (in purple). Pronouns can be seen independently or attached to a word. For example هُوَ which means ‘he  or it ’ can be attached to a word like كِتَابُ (which means book). To attach, we should look for the attached form of the pronoun. Attached form of هُوَ is هُ so we can say كِتَابُهُ and this would mean, ‘his book.’ Some pronouns have two attached forms. We choose the attached form for a pronoun depending on the harakah (fili) on the last letter of the word. For example if the word was كِتَابِ it will be very difficult and sounds weird to say كِتَابِهُ so the Arab says كِتَابِهِ and this would also mean ‘his book’. So the second form of an attached pronoun is only used when there is a kasra (ibifili) on the last letter. The pronoun ‘ana’ is an exceptional case. Harf of Nasb (English + Dhivehi)

حَرف نَصب إِنَّ                                   أَنَّ                              كَأَنَّ لَيْتَ                          لاَكِنَّ                  لَعَلَّ These are called Harf of Nasb. Their meanings are as follows: إِنَّ – For sure أَنَّ – that كَأَنَّ – as though لَيْتَ – if only لاَكِنَّ – however لَعَلَّ – so that/hopefully/maybe The word after harf of nasb must be a nasb. (must end with fathha, AANI sound or EENA sound – look up lessons on status) A harf of nasb doesn’t necessarily beat up the word next to it. There may be there words between harf of nasb and the word beaten up. Eg: إِنَّ اللّهَ إِنَّ is the harf nasb. The word اللّهَ is the ismu إِنَّ . Because the word became nasb due to إِنَّ . Mudhaaf-mudhaaf ilaihi with pronouns Among the lessons related to pronouns, we had looked at the pronouns chart. Below is a picture to help you remember. The ‘attached’ forms are actually nasb or jarr versions of the pronouns. They are called ‘attached’ forms because they are always found attached to a word. Example:    رَسُوْلُهُ If you find هُ   or هِ you must know that it’s the attached form of هُوَ and can only be nasb or jarr status. Exercise 1: Identify and write the attached forms of the given pronouns by looking at the chart.
