Mudhaaf-mudhaaf ilaihi with pronouns

Among the lessons related to pronouns, we had looked at the pronouns chart. Below is a picture to help you remember.

The ‘attached’ forms are actually nasb or jarr versions of the pronouns.

They are called ‘attached’ forms because they are always found attached to a word.

Example:   رَسُوْلُهُ

If you find هُ  or هِ you must know that it’s the attached form of هُوَ and can only be nasb or jarr status.

Exercise 1:

Identify and write the attached forms of the given pronouns by looking at the chart. (try and remember the attached forms without looking as much as you can In Sha Allah)

Look at the fragments below, identify the attached pronoun and write the original form of that pronoun. First one has been done for you.

If you see an ism with an attached pronoun, that fragment can be a mudhaaf-mudhaaf ilaihi.

Ism will be the mudhaaf and attached pronoun will be the mudhaaf ilaihi.

Eg:     نَفْسَكَ

نَفْسَ is the mudhaaf. It is light and has no ال

كَ is the mudhaaf ilaihi. It is in jarr status. (as we saw above attached pronoun is either nasb or jarr status. In this case its jarr for sure since it’s a mudhaaf ilaihi)

So when we translate نَفْسَكَ we put an ‘of’ in between the two words. نَفْسَ means ‘self’ so it will translate as:

Self of yours (which sounds weird yeah. But in the beginning we keep making weird translations and then try to make it normal. For example, the normal way of saying ‘self of yours’ is ‘yourself’. Eventually you will get the hang of it In Sha Allah)

Write the meanings of the given fragments using the word given. First one has been done for you.
