Jaar-Majroor Practice (English)

Jaar-Majroor Practice

Today we are going to take a step forward and look up some fragments from the Quran.
Since we learned about two kinds of fragments (mudhaaf-mudhaaf ilaihi and Jaar-majroor) by now, the examples will include both of these kinds of fragments.
Lets have a look at the first few examples together.

Example 1: بِرَبِّ الْفَلَقِ
بِ is the harf of Jarr. So it’s the Jaar
رَبِّ is the majroor since it became jarr because of بِ.
رَبِّ is light with no ال. So it’s a mudhaaf.
الْفَلَقِ is jarr so its mudhaaf ilaihi.

بِرَبِّ is a jaar-majroor fragment
رَبِّ الْفَلَقِ is a mudhaaf-mudhaaf ilaihi fragment.

بِرَبِّ الْفَلَقِ will mean ‘with the Master of Daybreak’

Example 2:
مِنْ شَرِّ مَا
 مِنْ is Jaar
شَرِّ is Majroor.
شَرِّ is light with no ال. So it’s the Mudhaaf of the next fragment.
مَا can have the status of rafa’, nasb or jarr. So we can say it’s the mudhaaf ilaihi in jarr status.

مِنْ شَرِّ is Jaar-Majroor fragment

شَرِّ مَا is Mudhaaf-mudhaaf ilaihi fragment

مِنْ شَرِّ مَا خَلَقَ means ‘From evil of what He created’

Example 3:
وَمِنْ شَرِّ غَاسِقٍ
We can’t say that وَ here is a harf of jarr. Because a harf of jarr can’t beat up another harf of jarr ‘مِنْ’.

مِنْ is the Jaar
شَرِّ is Majroor and also the Mudhaaf of the next fragment
غَاسِقٍ is the mudhaaf ilaihi.

Self-exercise: Identify the fragments and parts of the fragments as given above. Please note that the fragment could be Mudhaaf-mudhaaf ilaihi or Jaar Majroor or it can have both kinds of fragments.
