“Oh he is such an innocent little boy, he prays without us saying much.”

“Look at her being all obedient and wearing the hijab. We won’t have to worry much about her being religious.”

“Our son prays and recites Quran. He would stay that way even if we don’t make an effort to tell him much about deen”

 

These are the common assumptions that we make whenever we see young children or even teenagers obeying to whatever demands we make of them without question. And they are indeed rare to find these days (Baarakallah lahum!) But this doesn’t mean that we have to leave them behind when it comes to teaching about deen.

 

Yes, they might be obeying their elders when they are young because they are respectful in nature. They don’t have the heart to disappoint their parents and thus they do their best to live up to the parents’ expectations. And thus they pray and recite Quran. But this doesn’t secure them from the doubts that would appear in their minds as they grow older.

 

As they get exposed to more subjects and ideas, they are likely to develop doubts about deen. Especially during this day and age where people spread so much hate about Islam. If we just leave them to their devices without making an effort against those missionary movements, then we are likely to lose those intelligent and precious young people in the clutches of the wrong mindset.

 

And thus we are supposed to empower our young people through our beautiful deen. We need to explain to them how there is a harmony between intellect and spirituality when it comes to our faith. We need to show them how there is in fact an intelligent answer to every doubt of theirs. We need to tell them how we believe with our eyes open, unlike any other faith in the entire world!

"އެއީ ހާދަ ބަސްއަހާ މައުސޫމް ކުއްޖެކެވެ. އަހަރުމެން ބުނުމެއްވެސް ނެތި އޭނަ ނަމާދު ކުރެއެވެ"

"އެ ކުއްޖާ ނުހަނު ކިޔަމަންތެރިކަމާއެކީ ބުރުގާ އަޅައިގެން އުޅޭގޮތް ދެކެބަލާށެވެ. އެކުއްޖާގެ ދީންވެރިކަމާމެދު އަހަރުމެން މާ ބޮޑު ފިކުރެއް ކުރާކަށް ނުޖެހޭނެއެވެ.

"އަހަރުމެންގެ ދަރިފުޅު ނަމާދުކޮށް ޤުރުއާން ކިޔަވައެވެ. އެކުއްޖާއަށް ދީނާއިމެދު ކިޔައިދޭން އަހަރުމެން މާ ބޮޑު މަސައްކަތެއް ކުރާކަށް ނުޖެހޭނެއެވެ."

 

މިއީ ވަރަށް ގިނަ ފަހަރު ކުޑަކުދިންނާއި ފުރާވަރުގެ ކުދިންވެސް އަޅުގަނޑުމެން ބުނާ ގޮތަށް ކަންތައް ކުރުމުން އަޅުގަނޑުމެންނަށް ހީކުރެވޭ ހީކުރުންތަކެވެ. ހަމަ ޔަޤީނުންވެސް އެފަދަ ފުރާވަރުގެ ކުދިންނަކީ މި ޒަމާނުގައި ވަރަށް މަދުން ނޫނީ ނުފެންނަ ކުދިންނެވެ. (بَارَكَ اللّه لَهُم) އެހެނަސް މީގެ މާނައަކީ އެކުދިންނަށް ދީން އުނގަންނައި ދިނުމުގައި އަޅުގަނޑުމެންނަށް ފަރުވާ ކުޑަ ކުރެވެން އޮތުމެއް ނޫނެވެ.

 

އާނއެކެވެ. އެކުދިންގެ ޒާތުގައި ހުންނަ ކިޔަމަންތެރިކަމުގެ ސަބަބުން އެކުދިންނަށްވުރެ ބޮޑެތި މީހުންނަށް އެކުދިން އިޙްތިރާމާއެކީ ޤަދަރުކޮށްފާނެއެވެ. މައިންބަފައިން ދެރަ ކުރަން ބޭނުންނުވާތީ އެމީހުންގެ އުއްމީދުތަކާއި އެއްގޮތަށް އުޅެން އެކުދިން މަސައްކަތް ކޮށްފާނެއެވެ. އެހެނަސް މީގެ މާނައަކީ މިކުދިން ބޮޑެތި ވަމުން އަންނަ ވަރަކަށް ދީނާއިމެދު މި ކުދިންގެ ސިކުނޑިއަށް ވެރިވާނެ ޝައްކުތަކަށް ނިމުމެއް އައުމެއްނޫނެވެ.

 

ދިރިއުޅުން ކުރިއަށް ދާވަރަކަށް އެކި ޒާތްޒާތުގެ ޚިޔާލުތަކާއި މާއްދާތަކަށް އެކުދިންގެ ލޯ ހުޅުވެމުން ދާ ވަރަކަށް އެކުދިންގެ ހިތްތަކުގައިވެސް ދީނާއިމެދު ޝައްކުތައް އުފެދުން ގާތެވެ. ވަކިން ޚާއްޞަކޮށް އަޅުގަނޑުމެންގެ ދީނާއިމެދު އެތައް ބަޔަކު ނަފްރަތު ފަތުރާ މި ޒަމާނުގައެވެ. އެކުދިން އެކުދިންގެ ގޮތުގައި ދޫކޮށްފިނަމަ މިޝިނަރީ ޙަރަކާތްތަކުގެ ޝިކާރައަކަށް އެކުދިން ވެ އަޅުގަނޑުމެންގެ ކިބައިން ނުހަނު ވިސްނުން ތޫނު އަދި ޤާބިލް މުސްލިމް ޒުވާނުން ހަލާކުކުރުވަނިވި ޚިޔާލުތަކުގެ ތެރެއަށް ގެއްލިދާނެއެވެ.

 

އެހެންކަމުން އަޅުގަނޑުމެންގެ ރީތި ދީން އުނގަންނައި ދީގެން ޒުވާން ކުދިން ބާރުވެރި ކުރުވަން އަޅުގަނޑުމެން ޖެހެއެވެ. އަޅުގަނޑުމެންގެ ދީނުގައި ވިސްނުމާއި ރޫޙާނީ ބައި ނުހަނު ފުރިހަމައަށް އަދި ހަމަހަމައަށް ހިމެނިފައިވާ ގޮތް ކިޔައިދޭން ޖެހެއެވެ. ދީނާއިމެދު އެމީހުންގެ ހިތުގައި އުފެދިފައިވާ ކޮންމެ ޝައްކަކަށް ނުހަނު ފުރިހަމަ ޖަވާބެއް ވާކަން ވިސްނައިދޭން ޖެހެއެވެ. ދުނިޔޭގައިވާ އެހެނިހެން ހުރިހާ ދީންތަކާއި ޚިލާފަށް އަޅުގަނޑުމެން އިސްލާމް ދީނަށް ވަންނަނީ އަލިވެގެންވާ ދަލީލުތަކާއި އެކީކަން ދޭހަކޮށްދޭން ޖެހެއެވެ.

 

"ކަލޭގެފާނު ވިދާޅުވާށެވެ! މިއީ ތިމަންކަލޭގެފާނުގެ މަގެވެ. ތިމަންކަލޭގެފާނާއި، ތިމަންކަލޭގެފާނަށް ތަބާވި މީހުން، اللَّه ގެ ފަރާތަށް ގޮވައިލައްވަނީ، އަލިވެގެންވާ ދަލީލާއިއެކުގައެވެ. އަދި اللَّه ގެ ހުސްތާހިރުވަންތަކަމާއެވެ! އަދި ޝަރީކުކުރާ މީހުންގެ ތެރެއިން ތިމަންކަލޭގެފާނު ނުވަމެވެ." ސޫރަތް ޔޫސުފް،108

The chart above shows the pronouns of the Arabic language. Below each pronoun is its attached form (in purple). Pronouns can be seen independently or attached to a word. For example هُوَ which means ‘he  or it ’ can be attached to a word like كِتَابُ (which means book). To attach, we should look for the attached form of the pronoun. Attached form of هُوَ is هُ so we can say كِتَابُهُ and this would mean, ‘his book.’ Some pronouns have two attached forms. We choose the attached form for a pronoun depending on the harakah (fili) on the last letter of the word. For example if the word was كِتَابِ it will be very difficult and sounds weird to say كِتَابِهُ so the Arab says كِتَابِهِ and this would also mean ‘his book’. Mudhaaf-mudhaaf ilaihi with pronouns Among the lessons related to pronouns, we had looked at the pronouns chart. Below is a picture to help you remember. The ‘attached’ forms are actually nasb or jarr versions of the pronouns. They are called ‘attached’ forms because they are always found attached to a word. Example:    رَسُوْلُهُ If you find هُ   or هِ you must know that it’s the attached form of هُوَ and can only be nasb or jarr status. Exercise 1: Identify and write the attached forms of the given pronouns by looking at the chart. Harf of Nasb (English + Dhivehi)

حَرف نَصب إِنَّ                                   أَنَّ                              كَأَنَّ لَيْتَ                          لاَكِنَّ                  لَعَلَّ These are called Harf of Nasb. Their meanings are as follows: إِنَّ – For sure أَنَّ – that كَأَنَّ – as though لَيْتَ – if only لاَكِنَّ – however لَعَلَّ – so that/hopefully/maybe The word after harf of nasb must be a nasb. (must end with fathha, AANI sound or EENA sound – look up lessons on status) A harf of nasb doesn’t necessarily beat up the word next to it. There may be there words between harf of nasb and the word beaten up. Eg: إِنَّ اللّهَ إِنَّ is the harf nasb. The word اللّهَ is the ismu إِنَّ . Because the word became nasb due to إِنَّ .
