وَاخْفِضْ لَهُمَا جَنَاحَ الذُّلِّ
“..And lower your wings of humility for them…” Surah Al-Isra, 24
Ever wondered about what this means? Especially when you don’t happen to have wings? How are you supposed to lower them if you don’t have them?
The thing is, the ayah is giving an example of a bird in that expression. And the biggest power a bird has is in its wings. Because it can choose whether to stay in a place or not, by using its wings. And when it does use its wings to go, it’s difficult to catch it. When a bird’s wings are cut off, it is seen as a powerless and humble creature. Its literally at the mercy of anyone or anything around it without its wings.
So when the ayah says ‘lower your wings’ for your parents, it means that though you may have your ‘wings’, though you may have every reason to look down on your parents, though you may have the perfect response for everything they say, though you have just the right idea to act up in front of them, you choose to pretend like you don’t have those wings. And you are completely humble and down to earth in front of your parents.
Another beautiful way of looking at this ayah is in another scenario of a bird’s life. When a bird has eggs in its nest and a predator like a snake tries to reach the eggs, the parent bird would lower its wings on the eggs. It’s literally risking its own life to save its young ones.
So the idea is when we were young, our parents protected us. From every storm. From every sadness. From every bad news. And just how they lowered their wings to protect us when we were young, we must lower our wings to protect them when we have the power. To protect them from everything they saved us from before.
May Allah make us of those who lower their wings for their parents. Ameen!

"..ނިކަމެތިކަމުގެ ފިޔަ، ތިބާ އެ ދެމީހުންނަށްޓަކައި ތިރިކޮށްލާށެވެ.." ސޫރަތުލް އިސްރާ، 24
މި އާޔަތުގެ މާނައާއިމެދު ދުވަހަކުވެސް ވިސްނާލިން ހެއްޔެވެ؟ ވަކިން ޚާއްޞަކޮށް ތިބާގެ ކިބައިގައި ފިޔައެއް ނުވާ ޙާލުގައެވެ. ތިބާގެ ކިބައިގައި ފިޔައެއް ނުވާނަމަ އެ ތިރިކުރެވޭނީ ކިހިނެއް ހެއްޔެވެ؟
ޙަޤީޤަތުގައި މި އާޔަތުގައި ބޭނުންކުރެވިފައިވި ބަސްތަކުން އެ ދެކެވެނީ ދޫންޏެއްގެ މިސާލެވެ. ދޫންޏެއްގެ ކިބައިގައިވާ އެންމެ ބާރުގަދަ އެއްނިޢުމަތަކީ އޭގެ ފިޔައެވެ. އެހެނީ އޭތި ތަނެއްގައި ހުންނާނީތޯ ނޫނީ ނުހުންނާނީތޯ ނިންމަނީ އެ ފިޔައިން ކަމަށްވާތީވެއެވެ. އަދި އޭތި ފިޔަ ބޭނުންކޮށްގެން އުދުހެން ފަށައިފިނަމަ އޭތި ހިފުމަކީ ފަސޭހަކަމަކަށް ނުވާނެތީވެއެވެ. ދޫންޏެއްގެ ފިޔަ ކޮށައިފިނަމަ އޭތި މުޅިން ބަލިކަށިވެ ނިކަމެތިވެދެއެވެ. އޭތި އުޅެމުން ދަނީ އޭގެ ވަށައިގެންވި މީހުންގެ ނޫނީ އެއްޗެއްސެއް އެއަށް ދެއްކި ރަޙުމަކާއި އެކީގައެވެ.
އެހެންކަމުން މި އާޔަތުގައި 'ފިޔަތައް ތިރިކުރުމަށް' އަންގަވާފައިވަނީ މިހެންވެއެވެ. ތިބާގެ ވެސް ފިޔަތަކެއްވެއެވެ. ތިބާގެ މައިންބަފައިންނަކީ ތިބާއަށްވުރެ ދަށް ބައެއްކަމުގައި ދެކުމުގެ ފިޔައެވެ. އެދެމީހުން ބުނާ ކޮންމެ ވާހަކައަކާއި ދެކޮޅަށް ރައްދެއް ދިނުމުގެ ފިޔައެވެ. އެމީހުންގެ ކުރިމަތީގައި ކިބުރުވެރިވުމުގެ ފިޔައެވެ. އެހެނަސް އެމީހުންގެ ކުރިމަތީގައި ފިޔަތައް ތިރިކުރުމަކީ މި ފިޔަތައް ހުރުމާއި އެކީގައިވެސް ތިބާ އެ ފިޔަތައް ނެތްކަމަށް ބަލައި އެމީހުންގެ ކުރިމަތީގައި ނިކަމެތިވުމަށް ޚިޔާރުކުރުމެވެ.
މި އާޔަތުގެ މާނަ ނެގޭ އެހެންވެސް ވަރަށް ރީތި ގޮތެއް އެބަ އޮތެވެ. ދޫންޏެއްގެ ޙަޔާތުގައިވާ އެހެން މަންޒަރަކަށް ނަޒަރު ހިންގާލުމުންނެވެ. ދޫންޏެއްގެ ހާއްޔެއްގައި ބިސްތަކެއް ތިއްބާ އެ ބިސްތަކުގެ ކައިރިއަށް ހަރުފައެއް ކަހަލަ އެއްޗެއް ކައިރިވާން މަސައްކަތް ކޮށްފިނަމަ، މަންމަ ދޫނި އެ ބިސްތަކުގެ މައްޗަށް އޭގެ 'ފިޔަތައް ތިރިކޮށްލައެވެ.' އެހެން ބަސްތަކަކުން ބުނާނަމަ އެ މަންމަ އަމިއްލަ ފުރާނައަށް ނުރައްކާކޮށްގެން ވެސް އޭގެ ދަރިން ސަލާމަތްކުރަން މަސައްކަތް ކުރެއެވެ.
މީގައި ފޮރުވިފައިވި ފިލާވަޅަކީ އަހަރުމެންގެ މައިންބަފައިންވެސް އަހަރުމެން ކުޑައިރު އަހަރުމެން ރައްކާތެރިކުރި ކަމެވެ. ނުބައި ޠޫފާންތަކުންނެވެ. ހިތާމަވެރިކަމުންނެވެ. ބިރުވެރި ޚަބަރުތަކުންނެވެ. ހަމަ އެފަދައިން އަހަރުމެންނަށް ބާރު ލިބުމުން އެމީހުން ރައްކާތެރި ކުރުމަށްޓަކައި އަހަރުމެން ވެސް 'ފިޔަތައް ތިރިކުރަން' ޖެހެއެވެ. މާޒީގައި އެމީހުން އަހަރުމެން ރައްކާތެރިކުރި ކަންތަކުން އަހަރުމެން އެމީހުންވެސް ރައްކާތެރި ކުރުމަށްޓަކައެވެ.
މާތް ﷲ އަޅަމެންނަކީ އަޅަމެންގެ މައިންބަފައިންނަށްޓަކައި ފިޔަތައް ތިރިކުރާ ބަޔަކު ކަމުގައި ލައްވާށި! އާމީން!
*އުސްތާޒް ނުޢުމާންގެ ލެކްޗާރއަކުން ނެގިފައި

ޙަޤީޤަތުގައި މި އާޔަތުގައި ބޭނުންކުރެވިފައިވި ބަސްތަކުން އެ ދެކެވެނީ ދޫންޏެއްގެ މިސާލެވެ. ދޫންޏެއްގެ ކިބައިގައިވާ އެންމެ ބާރުގަދަ އެއްނިޢުމަތަކީ އޭގެ ފިޔައެވެ. އެހެނީ އޭތި ތަނެއްގައި ހުންނާނީތޯ ނޫނީ ނުހުންނާނީތޯ ނިންމަނީ އެ ފިޔައިން ކަމަށްވާތީވެއެވެ. އަދި އޭތި ފިޔަ ބޭނުންކޮށްގެން އުދުހެން ފަށައިފިނަމަ އޭތި ހިފުމަކީ ފަސޭހަކަމަކަށް ނުވާނެތީވެއެވެ. ދޫންޏެއްގެ ފިޔަ ކޮށައިފިނަމަ އޭތި މުޅިން ބަލިކަށިވެ ނިކަމެތިވެދެއެވެ. އޭތި އުޅެމުން ދަނީ އޭގެ ވަށައިގެންވި މީހުންގެ ނޫނީ އެއްޗެއްސެއް އެއަށް ދެއްކި ރަޙުމަކާއި އެކީގައެވެ.
އެހެންކަމުން މި އާޔަތުގައި 'ފިޔަތައް ތިރިކުރުމަށް' އަންގަވާފައިވަނީ މިހެންވެއެވެ. ތިބާގެ ވެސް ފިޔަތަކެއްވެއެވެ. ތިބާގެ މައިންބަފައިންނަކީ ތިބާއަށްވުރެ ދަށް ބައެއްކަމުގައި ދެކުމުގެ ފިޔައެވެ. އެދެމީހުން ބުނާ ކޮންމެ ވާހަކައަކާއި ދެކޮޅަށް ރައްދެއް ދިނުމުގެ ފިޔައެވެ. އެމީހުންގެ ކުރިމަތީގައި ކިބުރުވެރިވުމުގެ ފިޔައެވެ. އެހެނަސް އެމީހުންގެ ކުރިމަތީގައި ފިޔަތައް ތިރިކުރުމަކީ މި ފިޔަތައް ހުރުމާއި އެކީގައިވެސް ތިބާ އެ ފިޔަތައް ނެތްކަމަށް ބަލައި އެމީހުންގެ ކުރިމަތީގައި ނިކަމެތިވުމަށް ޚިޔާރުކުރުމެވެ.
މި އާޔަތުގެ މާނަ ނެގޭ އެހެންވެސް ވަރަށް ރީތި ގޮތެއް އެބަ އޮތެވެ. ދޫންޏެއްގެ ޙަޔާތުގައިވާ އެހެން މަންޒަރަކަށް ނަޒަރު ހިންގާލުމުންނެވެ. ދޫންޏެއްގެ ހާއްޔެއްގައި ބިސްތަކެއް ތިއްބާ އެ ބިސްތަކުގެ ކައިރިއަށް ހަރުފައެއް ކަހަލަ އެއްޗެއް ކައިރިވާން މަސައްކަތް ކޮށްފިނަމަ، މަންމަ ދޫނި އެ ބިސްތަކުގެ މައްޗަށް އޭގެ 'ފިޔަތައް ތިރިކޮށްލައެވެ.' އެހެން ބަސްތަކަކުން ބުނާނަމަ އެ މަންމަ އަމިއްލަ ފުރާނައަށް ނުރައްކާކޮށްގެން ވެސް އޭގެ ދަރިން ސަލާމަތްކުރަން މަސައްކަތް ކުރެއެވެ.
މީގައި ފޮރުވިފައިވި ފިލާވަޅަކީ އަހަރުމެންގެ މައިންބަފައިންވެސް އަހަރުމެން ކުޑައިރު އަހަރުމެން ރައްކާތެރިކުރި ކަމެވެ. ނުބައި ޠޫފާންތަކުންނެވެ. ހިތާމަވެރިކަމުންނެވެ. ބިރުވެރި ޚަބަރުތަކުންނެވެ. ހަމަ އެފަދައިން އަހަރުމެންނަށް ބާރު ލިބުމުން އެމީހުން ރައްކާތެރި ކުރުމަށްޓަކައި އަހަރުމެން ވެސް 'ފިޔަތައް ތިރިކުރަން' ޖެހެއެވެ. މާޒީގައި އެމީހުން އަހަރުމެން ރައްކާތެރިކުރި ކަންތަކުން އަހަރުމެން އެމީހުންވެސް ރައްކާތެރި ކުރުމަށްޓަކައެވެ.
މާތް ﷲ އަޅަމެންނަކީ އަޅަމެންގެ މައިންބަފައިންނަށްޓަކައި ފިޔަތައް ތިރިކުރާ ބަޔަކު ކަމުގައި ލައްވާށި! އާމީން!
