Number detailed (part 1)
Today we will be looking at the second property of isms, ‘number’ in detail.
Number can be divided into 3 parts. They are:
1.     Singular
2.     Dual
3.     Plural
We don’t have to worry much about singular and dual.
But when it comes to plural:- there are 6 kinds of plural. Lets look at each one of them one by one.

1.     Masculine plural
Ø This usually ends with OONA or EENA sound. Example: muslimoona, saadhiqoona, mu’mineena etc..
Ø This plural is only used for humans, angels and jinns.
Ø A masculine plural word will include male and females. For example if I say muslimoona, it includes muslims of both genders. Or for instance look at the ayah below.

قَدْ أَفْلَحَ الْمُؤْمِنُوْنَ

“Certainly the believers have already succeeded” Surah Al-Mu’minoon, 1

Ø In this ayah, it uses the masculine plural ‘mu’minoona’ but it doesn’t mean that only male believers succeeded. It means all believers in general have succeeded.

2.     Human feminine plural
Ø This ends with an AATUN or AATIN sound.
Ø This plural refers to only women.
Ø For example if I say muslimaatun, it means muslim women. If I say mu’minaathin, it means believing women and so on.

3.     Non-human feminine plural
Ø ‘Non-human’ literally means any object that is not human. (way too obvious yet needed to be mentioned)
Ø In English when we take something ‘non-human’ like a book for example, and make a sentence, we say they are books. Or we say they are masjids, they are ayahs.
Ø The Arabs don’t talk like that. The Arabs would say ‘She’ is books, she is masjids, she is ayahs.
Ø Note that even non-human feminine plurals may end with AATUN and AATIN sound though not always.

Exercise:
Identify which kind of plural the following words are:
مُسْلِمُوْنَ (muslims)
مُهَاجِرَاتٍ (immigrant women)
سَمَاوَاتٌ (skies)
كُتُبُ (books)
ءايَاتٌ (miraculous signs)
جَنَّاتٌ (gardens)
الْقَانِتِيْنَ (obedient people)

ޢަދަދު ތަފްޞީލުކުރެވިފައި (ފުރަތަމަ ބައި)
މިއަދު އަހަރުމެން ތަފްޞީލުކޮށް ބަލާލާނީ އިސްމްތަކުގެ ދެވަނަ ސިފަކަމުގައިވާ 'ޢަދަދު' އަށެވެ.
ޢަދަދު 3 ބަޔަކަށް ބެހިގެންވެއެވެ. އެއީ؛
1.    މުފްރަދް (އެކަކަށް ނިސްބަތްކޮށް)
2.    މުޘައްނާ (ދެއެއްޗަށް ނިސްބަތްކޮށް)
3.    ޖަމްޢު (ދެއެއްޗަށްވުރެ ގިނަ އެއްޗަށް ނިސްބަތްކޮށް)
މުފްރަދް އާއި މުޘައްނާއާއިމެދު އަހަރުމެން މާ ބޮޑަށް ވިސްނާކަށް ނުޖެހެއެވެ. އެހެނަސް ޖަމްޢުއަށް ބަލާލާއިރު ޖަމްޢު 6 ބަޔަކަށް ބެހިގެންދެއެވެ. މީގެއިން ކޮންމެ ބަޔަކަށް ވަކިވަކިން ބަލާލަމާ ހިނގާށެވެ.

1.    ފިރިހެން ޖަމްޢު
·      ފިރިހެން ޖަމްޢު ޢާއްމުގޮތެއްގައި ނިމޭނީ 'އޫނަ' ނޫނީ 'އީނަ' މި އަޑުތަކުންނެވެ. މިސާލަކަށް: މުސްލިމޫނަ، ޞާދިޤޫނަ، މުއްމުނީނަ....
·      މި ޖަމްޢު ޢާއްމުގޮތެއްގައި ބޭނުންކުރެވެނީ އިންސާނުންނަށާއި މަލާއިކަތުންނަށާއި ޖިންނިންނަށް ނިސްބަތްކުރުމަށެވެ.
·      ފިރިހެން ޖަމްޢުގައި ފިރިހެން އަންހެން ދެ ޖިންސުވެސް ހިމެނިގެންދެއެވެ. މިސާލަކަށް އަޅުގަނޑު މުސްލިމޫނަ އޭ ކިޔައިފިނަމަ އޭގައި ފިރިހެން އަދި އަންހެން މުސްލިމުން ވެސް ހިމެނޭނެއެވެ. އެހެންނޫނީ ތިރީގައި މިވާ އާޔަތަށް ބަލާށެވެ.
قَدْ أَفْلَحَ الْمُؤْمِنُوْنَ
"ހަމަ ޔަޤީނުންވެސް މުއުމިނުން ކާމިޔާބުވެއްޖެއެވެ." ސޫރަތުލް މުއްމިނޫން، 1
·      މި އާޔަތުގައި ބޭނުން ކުރެވިފައި މިވަނީ ފިރިހެން ޖަމްޢު ބަހެއް ކަމުގައިވާ 'މުއްމިނޫން' އެވެ. އެހެނަސް މި އާޔަތުގެ މާނައަކީ ހަމައެކަނި ފިރިހެން މުއުމިނުން ކާމިޔާބުވީ ވާހަކައެއް ނޫނެވެ. އެހެނެއްކަމަކު ހުރިހާ މުއުމިނުން އެކުލެވޭ ގޮތަށް ކާމިޔާބު ވީ ވާހަކައެވެ.
2.    އިންސާނުންނަށް ބޭނުންކުރެވޭ އަންހެން ޖަމްޢު
·      މި ބަސްތައް ޢާއްމުކޮށް ނިމޭނީ 'އާތުން' ނޫނީ 'އާތިން' ގެ އަޑުންނެވެ.
·      މި ޖަމްޢު ބޭނުންކުރެވޭނީ ހަމައެކަނި އަންހެނުންނަށެވެ.
·      މިސާލަކަށް އަޅުގަނޑު މުސްލިމާތުން އޭ ކިޔައިފިނަމަ އޭގެ މާނައަކީ އަންހެން މުސްލިމުންނެވެ. އެހެންނޫނީ މުއްމިނާތިން ކިޔައިފިނަމަ އެއީ މުއުމިން އަންހެނުންގެ ވާހަކައެވެ. މިފަދައިންނެވެ.

3.    އެއްޗެއްސަށް ބޭނުންކުރެވޭ އަންހެން ޖަމްޢު
·      މިއީ އިންސާނުންނޫން ކޮންމެ އެއްޗަކަށް ބޭނުންކުރެވޭ ޖަމްޢުއެވެ.
·      ދިވެހި ބަހުން އިންސާނުންނޫން އެއްޗަކާއި ބެހޭގޮތުން ވާހަކަ ދައްކާއިރު ޖުމްލަތައް ހެދޭނީ މިފަދައިންނެވެ. އެއީ ފޮތްތަކެވެ. އެއީ މިސްކިތްތަކެވެ. އެއީ އާޔަތްތަކެވެ. އެހެނަސް ޢަރަބިން ވާހަކަ ދައްކަނީ މި ފަދައިންނެއްނޫނެވެ. ޢަރަބިން ބުނާނީ މިހެންނެވެ. އޭނައަކީ (އަންހެން) ފޮތްތަކެވެ. އޭނައަކީ މިސްކިތްތަކެވެ. އޭނައަކީ އާޔަތްތަކެވެ. އެހެންގޮތަށް ބުނާނަމަ 'އެއީ' ގެ ބަދަލުގައި އެމީހުން ބޭނުންކުރަނީ އަންހެން ޟަމީރު ކަމަށްވާ 'ހިޔަ' އެވެ. (ޟަމީރުގެ ފިލާވަޅު ބައްލަވާ)
·      އެހެންކަމުން ދެ އެއްޗަށްވުރެ ގިނަ އެއްޗެހީގެ ވާހަކަ އެމީހުން ދައްކަނީ އަންހެން ކުއްޖަކާއި ބެހޭގޮތުން ވާހަކަ ދައްކާ ފަދައިންނެވެ.
·      މި ބަސްތައް ވެސް ބައެއްފަހަރު 'އާތުން' ނުވަތަ 'އާތިން' ގެ އަޑުން ނިމުނަސް އެހެން އަޑުތަކުން ނިމޭ ބަސްތައް ވެސް ހުރެއެވެ.

*ބާކީ ހުރި 3 ޖަމްޢުއަށް އަލި އަޅުވާލެވޭނީ ކުރިއަށް އޮތް ފިލާވަޅުގައެވެ. (އިން ޝާ ﷲ)

ތިރީގައިވާ ބަސްތައް ފެތެނީ ކޮން ވައްތަރެއްގެ ޖަމްޢުއަކަށްތޯ ބުނެދޭށެވެ.

The chart above shows the pronouns of the Arabic language. Below each pronoun is its attached form (in purple). Pronouns can be seen independently or attached to a word. For example هُوَ which means ‘he  or it ’ can be attached to a word like كِتَابُ (which means book). To attach, we should look for the attached form of the pronoun. Attached form of هُوَ is هُ so we can say كِتَابُهُ and this would mean, ‘his book.’ Some pronouns have two attached forms. We choose the attached form for a pronoun depending on the harakah (fili) on the last letter of the word. For example if the word was كِتَابِ it will be very difficult and sounds weird to say كِتَابِهُ so the Arab says كِتَابِهِ and this would also mean ‘his book’. Mudhaaf-mudhaaf ilaihi with pronouns Among the lessons related to pronouns, we had looked at the pronouns chart. Below is a picture to help you remember. The ‘attached’ forms are actually nasb or jarr versions of the pronouns. They are called ‘attached’ forms because they are always found attached to a word. Example:    رَسُوْلُهُ If you find هُ   or هِ you must know that it’s the attached form of هُوَ and can only be nasb or jarr status. Exercise 1: Identify and write the attached forms of the given pronouns by looking at the chart. Harf of Nasb (English + Dhivehi)

حَرف نَصب إِنَّ                                   أَنَّ                              كَأَنَّ لَيْتَ                          لاَكِنَّ                  لَعَلَّ These are called Harf of Nasb. Their meanings are as follows: إِنَّ – For sure أَنَّ – that كَأَنَّ – as though لَيْتَ – if only لاَكِنَّ – however لَعَلَّ – so that/hopefully/maybe The word after harf of nasb must be a nasb. (must end with fathha, AANI sound or EENA sound – look up lessons on status) A harf of nasb doesn’t necessarily beat up the word next to it. There may be there words between harf of nasb and the word beaten up. Eg: إِنَّ اللّهَ إِنَّ is the harf nasb. The word اللّهَ is the ismu إِنَّ . Because the word became nasb due to إِنَّ .
